I found “Ten Little Caterpillars” by the late hero of children’s books Bill Martin Jr. during the book fair at ev’s school. I can’t say enough about it! The brightly illustrated pages contain all the appropriate educational elements for 2-6 year olds, from rythm to counting and vocabulary.
I love how the plants and insects are labeled throughout the pages.
Best of all is the caterpillar index at the back where you can find the name of each caterpillar encountered throughout the pages, what it feeds on and the moth or butterfly it becomes. Ev is already looking for the painted lady caterpillar who “met a hungry wren”.
Each time we read, we discover something new. Tonight we noticed the grasshopper on the thistle plant’s stem.
Sounds fab. Will have to get one. Thank you!
Do! Both Sash and Benjamin will get loads of use out of it.
