When in doubt, Caldecott.

We read “The Snowy Day”  by Ezra Jack Keats, with interest, thirty bedtimes in a row. I would call it good book for two-and-a half-year old ev.

I chose the title after a browse down the Caldecott winner and honor list of books by the American Library Association (ALA).

Awarded annually to the most distinguished American picture book, Caldecott medal books are usually a sure bet.  I like how the ALA lists the medal and honor winners since 1938. “Sylvester and the Magic Pebble” (1970 medal) was a childhood favorite of mine.

Next on my list: “The House in the Night” (2009 medal)
